Forget shortcuts: this summer, stars are going long. Hayden Panettiere and Jessica Alba are the latest celebs to take their hair to new lengths with extensions. Panettiere debuted her updated look at the Vans Custom Culture Event in New York City on June 2. The actress, who chopped her locks in April of 2010 because she “likes abrupt changes,” added wavy blonde strands to her head, returning to her Heroes roots.

Alba, expecting her second child with husband Cash Warren, turned up at the Covenant House California Gala in Los Angeles on Thursday with brunette tresses that flowed well past her shoulders — a major contrast to the shorter style she sported as recently as late May.
